Greenwich Village

Canal St. to Gansevoort St.

Greenwich Village was Hudson River Park’s first completed section, and for nearly two decades this popular stretch has delighted Park visitors. Featuring uninterrupted esplanade, spectacular views of Lower Manhattan and the New York Harbor, and lawns perfect for a shaded picnic or an afternoon of sunbathing, this portion of the Park is the perfect place to play, explore and relax.

Piers & Places

Pier 40

At more than 15 acres, Pier 40 is the largest pier along the Hudson River. This mixed-use commercial/recreation pier generates revenue for the overall Park’s care while also hosting boating, our River Project and much-loved public ball fields.

Pier 45

Countless New Yorkers head to this popular pier at the foot of Christopher Street in the warm months to catch some rays while lounging on a large, green lawn.

Pier 46

This tree-lined, Greenwich Village retreat features a large artificial turf lawn for casual exercise and play, plus raised seating areas and a pile field on the western end.

Greenwich Village Upland

There’s much to see and do in the Greenwich Village Upland. The vibrant scene has shaded seating areas, scenic overlooks, public art, dining and a dog run.

Pier 51

Beloved by families, the Pier 51 playground offers imaginative play with a nautical theme. Children especially love the expansive water and sand play areas.

Tennis

Come play on our three free hardcourt tennis courts, open to the public from 6:00 AM–1:00 AM. The courts operate on a first come, first served basis and permits are not required for regular play.

Citi Bike at Pier 40

<em>“Faster than walking, cheaper than a taxi and more fun than the subway”</em> — Citi Bike has three stations in Hudson River Park.

Ballfields at Pier 40

Kick off your next practice or game at one of Hudson River Park’s five athletic fields, home to some of the most coveted and heavily used recreational fields in Manhattan.

Leroy Street Dog Park

A Greenwich Village favorite, the Leroy Street Dog Park was rebuilt several years ago to include new amenities for dogs of all sizes.

At Pier 45 in Greenwich Village: Enjoy river views and outdoor dining at Hudson River Park's newest restaurant Drift In.

Pier 45 Lawn

Heat up, then cool down using Pier 45's super interactive water feature. Enjoy a spritz of fresh, cool water right when you need it.

The Apple

Hudson River Park’s Apple Garden, located at Charles St. in the Village, is the home of <em>The Apple</em> (2004).

West Village Apple Garden

Home to established trees and shrubs, the storied West Village Park area includes the Apple Garden, named for the bronze sculpture designed by Stephan Weiss at its center, a whimsical tribute to New York City.

AIDS Memorial

Dedicated on the 20th Anniversary of World AIDS Day, this permanent monument was built by the AIDS Monument Committee to commemorate those who we have lost from the disease.

LGBT Memorial

Designed by artist Anthony Goicolea, this tribute recognizes those lost in the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, as well as all victims of hate, intolerance and violence.
